ABUBAKAR SIDHIQ SA
Abubakkar Sidhiq SA is a dedicated Professional Social Worker, currently serving as a Counsellor at the Ummeed De-addiction and Rehab Centre in Bangalore, where he focuses on addressing drug and substance use, as well as various psychiatric illnesses. Hailing from Sullia, Karnataka, he earned his bachelor’s degree in social work from Nehru Memorial College in Sullia, affiliated with Mangalore University. Building on his foundation, he pursued a Master of Social Work from the Central University of Tamil Nadu, Thiruvarur.
During his postgraduate studies, He gained valuable experience as a Kollam Collector Intern, contributing to the “Safe Kollam” Project initiated by the Government of Kerala. His commitment to making a positive impact on society led him to join as a Research Assistant in the Department of Psychiatric Social Work under the guidance of Dr. Aravind Raj E. His involvement in the project, titled “Psycho-social Impact of COVID-19 on Rural Children,” showcased his dedication to understanding and mitigating the challenges faced by vulnerable populations.
Continuing his journey, He joined the Thanal NGO in Bangalore as an Outreach Coordinator for the Integrated Project of Rehabilitating the Homeless. This initiative encompassed education, public health, and overall well-being. A testament to his passion for education, he established a Micro Learning Centre and six evening tuition centres for underprivileged children living in slums across Bangalore.
Recognizing his exceptional contributions, He was promoted to the role of Regional Coordinator in Bangalore and qualified UGC- KSET 2021, acquiring Assistant Professorship in Social Work.
His scholarly pursuits were further demonstrated through his presentations at an international conference and two national conferences. The focus of his research papers revolved around the themes of Public Health and Psychiatric Social Work Profession.
