Akshata Rajashekar

Akshata Rajashekar is a dedicated and compassionate psychologist with a strong academic foundation and extensive clinical experience in psychological assessment, psychotherapy, and mental health care. She has completed her M.Sc. in Clinical Psychology from Jain University, Bengaluru, and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Zoology, and Botany from Maharani Lakshmi Ammanni College, Bengaluru.

With over 3,000 hours of clinical experience as an Associate Psychologist at Mind and Brain Hospital, Bengaluru, Akshata has developed expertise in providing comprehensive psychological services across diverse clinical settings. Her work involves conducting psychological assessments, diagnostic interviews, case history documentation, mental status examinations, psychotherapy, psychoeducation, report writing, crisis intervention, and family counselling. In addition to clinical practice, she actively mentors’ psychology interns by providing training in psychological assessments, psychotherapy approaches, case discussions, and professional clinical skills, while also conducting workshops on various mental health topics.

Akshata has experience working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, families, students, corporate employees, and neurodivergent individuals, providing individualized, evidence-based care tailored to each client’s unique needs. She works with a wide range of psychological concerns, including anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), stress, trauma, ADHD, relationship and marital difficulties, emotional dysregulation, self-esteem issues, personality disorders, substance use concerns, anger management, and academic stress.

Her therapeutic approach is integrative and client-centred, drawing from evidence-based interventions including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness-Based interventions, Motivational Interviewing, Behaviour Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Supportive Therapy, Family Therapy, Couple Therapy, Trauma-focused interventions, and Crisis Intervention. She believes in adapting therapeutic techniques to meet each individual’s needs while fostering a safe, collaborative, and supportive therapeutic environment.

Akshata is proficient in administering and interpreting a wide range of psychological and neuropsychological assessments, personality assessments, neuropsychological evaluations, ADHD assessments, autism assessments, learning disability assessments, memory assessments, and structured diagnostic interviews. She is experienced in integrating assessment findings into comprehensive clinical formulations and treatment planning.

Alongside her clinical practice, Akshata is actively involved in research. Her postgraduate dissertation, “Exploring the Relationship Between Childhood Experiences, Entertainment Genre Preferences, and Binge-Watching Behaviour,” reflects her interest in understanding the influence of early life experiences on behavioural patterns and mental health. She is passionate about evidence-based practice and continually strives to integrate current research into clinical care.

Fluent in English, Kannada, and Hindi, Akshata effectively connects with individuals from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
